BANZAI Sushi Bar, voted one of Oahu’s best by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser four consecutive years in a row, prides itself in offering its local community and visitors alike with some of the finest sushi these islands have to offer. By partnering up with our local fishermen and our local farmers, BANZAI strives to compliment the islands fresh fish with the North Shore’s organic farms to serve unique quality sushi according to season.

Chef Hide Takahashi creates Tropical Japanese Fusion Sushi by combining the islands seasonal fish with the islands seasonal fruits and vegetables, leaving you with the most exquisite tastes in your mouth only wanting more. With over 30 years experience, Chef Hide will convert any regular sushi eater into an experienced sushi lover with just one bite.

Mike Kealoha, our very own Hawaiian fish buyer with over 30 years experience, presents himself on a daily basis to the world’s second largest Ahi/Tuna fish auction, here in Honolulu on Pier 38. Mike bids on the finest fish the block has to offer, allowing us to serve it almost immediately.

A special thanks to our local farmers for providing us with years of excellent fresh organic produce such as Ho Farms, Rainbow Trader, Pupukea Gardens, and Marine AgriFuture. We pride ourselves in using some of the best organic greens the north shore has to offer allowing for an all around healthy meal.

Aquasauna Water Filters have been installed on all of our water lines. These filters purify the tap water, allowing us to prepare and preserve the most delicious tasting flavors.

Giving back to the community and to the north shore remains essential to our philosophy. We contribute to the local community and support our local farmers, musicians, artists and surfers alike through charitable events such as donations to the North Shore Community Land Trust (Keep the Country Country), by offering prize money for the junior local surfers to compete on the world stage, donating to our local schools, and simply by providing a platform for musicians and artists to show their talent right here at the sushi bar.

Executive Chef : Hide Takahashi

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan; Chef Hide Takahashi has since traveled the world seeking exotic destinations such as Fiji, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, California, and now Hawaii. Along his many journeys and adventures, Chef Hide has found his passion within the culinary arts and even more so, within his own ethnic comfort food, sushi. Today, Chef Hide chooses to live on the island of Oahu with his Japanese wife and their son and daughter, both of whom were born and raised on the island of Maui.

Before joining the BANZAI ohana in 2010, Chef Hide has experienced working at places such as Suehiro Japanese Restaurant in Sydney – Australia, Kouraku Japanese Restaurant in down town Los Angeles, Cherry Blossom Japanese Restaurant in Orange County – California, Sansei Seafood Restaurant, Fresh Island Fish Co & Grand Wailea’s Kincha Restaurant all in Maui – Hawaii, as well as Kaiwa Sushi Bar Restaurant in Waikiki and at Uncles Fish Market and Grill on Pier 38 here in Honolulu. Chef Hide has also owned and operated his own businesses such as a tour company called Akina Tours, as well as an import export fish business named Saturn both on Maui.

Today we feel very fortunate that Chef Hide has chosen BANZAI Sushi Bar in our little town of Haleiwa to exercise his passion for sushi where he is able to serve our community and visitors alike with some of the very best sushi you will ever eat. SAKE SUNDAYS : 

Every Sunday all SAKETINIS goes half off all day long for those of you who just need to relax, sit back and suck’em up + try our special Poke Nigiri.

JOY OF SAKE : 

Join us at Hawaii’s biggest sake event. The Joy of Sake is held annually at Honolulu’s Convention Center where up to 360 sake’s are put on display to sample along with appetizers from 20 of Oahu’s top restaurants.

PRIVATE PARTY BUYOUTS :

BANZAI invites those who would like to rent out the sushi bar along with its chefs and servers in order to host private events and celebrate birthdays, engagements, rehearsal dinners, or other such events. We can hire a live band to perform for your venue and offer our projector for your own personal movie footage you wish to display during your event. The entire restaurant would be at your disposition.

CATERING

BANZAI’s chefs remain at your disposal if you chose to invite them into your home for a venue or a private function. We invite you to give us a call and sit down with our chef to discuss a menu that is best suited for your party where we can also accommodate any of your dietary needs, such as Gluten Free Sushi, Vegan Sushi, Vegetarian Sushi and even Kosher Sushi, allowing us to cater to your every request.
